CentOS is dead, time to bury the corpse

Diseased things should not be propped up and above ground. It is an offense to the land of the living, and creates a terrible smell.

Re: Standard yum install broke alot of things, padding, checkboxes, and libvert

Thanks for the very detailed reply. I went to the Virtual Machine manager interface and it was able to take a screen-shot of the logged in virtual machine. This indicates that the VM loaded and the VM manager is online and connected. However when looking at it directly it is blank. SOLVED yum update...

[solved] yum install broke a few of things, padding, checkboxes, and libvert

Opps, I installed a hex editor with yum and it appears to have broken a few things symptoms 1) Window padding is missing, the minimize button is right against the edge 2) Checkbox options in programs gone entirely 3) Virtual Machine Manager no longer shows the virtual machine when started. Hmm, any ...

Brightness, how to change it?

I'm tired of having an ultra bright light shine into my eyes. I'm tired of wearing our the buttons on my poor old monitor. Ubuntu never gave me any troubles with this issue. I have scoured the internet to no avail and searched these forums, so it begs the question: HOW TO CHANGE THE BRIGHTNESS????? ...

Switching audio devices is such a painful hassle of an experience, any solutions?

Every single time. I decide to switch between analogue headphones and a usb headset, so I open the sound dialog and change it in the annoying two places that it makes you set it. Selecting the "Hardware" tab device, and the "Output device"... wft? Why two places? Anyhow, then it DOESN'T WORK. You mu...

Annoying cumbersome audio device switching, any relief?

Wow.. 1) Right click the tiny audio icon 2) Squint to see the list, precisely select sound preferences 3) A cloistered, collapsed window appears 4) Hunt for the right tab 5) Fumble to expand the window to see the devices 6) click on the device 7) It doesn't switch 8) Double click, "test speakers", i...

How to force Apache to follow symbolic links?

This never used to be a problem. Apache flatly refuses to follow a symbolic link. This has been part of my infrastructure and personal programs for half a decade, but now it seems to not work under any circumstances and produces a 403 error. (This is a new install) 1) selinux is turned off 2) All ap...

Seperate settings for Left and Right Mouse, which program?

Hello, I only use Linux (Centos 7) these days, and have a bit of a problem. One thing, the OS $W which wont be named has a built in capability to have separate settings for left and right mouse. CentOS has no native support for this. I use two mouses.... and having the left one be middle finger for ...

Good point. Lets suppose that SSH is running and connectable via password, and identity file, and that it is identical to the working Ubuntu 14.04 config

How to make SSHFS connect to a CentOS 6 server?

sshfs -o IdentityFile=/file_name -p port_number user_name@ip_address:/full_path/ /local_folder/ Scenario 1) My home Centos7 server connects wonderfully and without error vis SSHFS to my remote Ubuntu 14.04 LTS server. 2) My home Centos7 server cannot connect to my remote CentOS6 server. It produces...
