Re: boot failure - timed out waiting for device

I'm seeing this issue on RHEL 7.4 with a Supermicro X11DAI motherboard and a simple SATA drive attach to an SSD.

After fresh install, this error comes up on first boot.

Re: Default power save location / settings for hard drives in CentOS 7?

Where does hdparm.conf go? What directory?

What is the syntax that goes in it? I'd need to run "hdparm -B 255" on all devices matching model number ST2000LX001. I have a script that does this, but I don't know how hdparm.conf works or what it's expecting.

Thank you!

Default power save location / settings for hard drives in CentOS 7?

I have a system with some FireCuda consumer drives in it, ST2000LX001. Under CentOS 7.3, the screen is spammed with drive offline errors and "."s over and over again for a few minutes until all of the connected FireCuda drives are rejected as being offline. Ubuntu doesn't have an issue running them,...

Just wanted to post and thank TrevorH; the

Code: Select all

I'm getting the same thing - trying to figure out why I have "grub>" and no menu. Ended up at this forum post trying to figure it out.

Re: Dracut fails installing 7.2 via PXE / cobbler

Good god, I just spent the last 6 hours troubleshooting this and finally figured out what was causing it for me. I am running Cobbler on a CentOS 7 box, and imported the CentOS 7.1 1511 DVD in to it. Using a daughter system attempting to load CentOS from PXE, the behavior I saw was: - The regular im...

Re: TFTP time out error

I had this same problem, and it turned out that my netmask was set wrong. For the dhcpd.conf, I had a netmask of: 255.255.0.0 And for the network adapter serving my DHCP (in my case /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-enp5s0f1), I had a netmask of: 255.255.255.0 So the DHCP server was issuing an ad...

Re: Bootloader install fail

I was having this problem, again, on a different system. The system needed a Software RAID 1 on two 4 terabyte Seagate drives. CentOS 7 requires that you set up a bios_boot partition on drives of that size. Setting up a software RAID 1 includes designing partition sizes and then setting them to "RAI...
