power management and wifi issues

So I have an older HP Touchsmart Tx2 laptop, finally got touchscreen working, but having a couple issues with power management and wifi. Not sure if they are related. The first issue is that when I close the lid, the laptop goes to sleep as expected, but when I open the lid back up, whether it's the...

Re: unable to get touchscreen working

Not sure what happened, but the touchscreen is working now. Must have just needed a couple reboots.

Having other issues now, but will post in separate thread.

unable to get touchscreen working

I was cleaning out my garage and found an old HP TouchSmart tx2 tablet/laptop with touchscreen, and thought "why not put Centos 8 on it?" So I did. I was able to get the wifi working, but I'm not able to get the touchscreen working. It worked during the installation, however once it rebooted into th...

Lost connection on Centos host and VMs

I'm currently running Centos 7 on my computer, with a total of 3 VM's (1 Centos 7, Windows 10, and Fedora 27). Every once in a while, I lost the network connection on the host computer, which then causes the two Linux VM's to also lose their connection. Meaning, if I go on these machines, I cannot a...

Unable to run VMWare

Trying to get VMWare to run on my computer again, following a system crash, and keep getting the error that VMWare Kernel Module Updater cannot install the vmnet module. I have tried following this thread: https://www.centos.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=57405 but it's still not allowing me to run VMWa...

Re: Firefox automatic update

ok, so my Webmin setup notified me there's an update to Firefox to 38.7, but it kept failing (since I'm on 44.x now). Rebooted the computer because I had to power down to connect to my new UPS, and when I powered back on, I didn't get the usual "restore session" tab to restore my tabs. Tried to clic...

Re: Firefox automatic update

Nope. No ESR on my computer. Ever. I know what you are talking about though, because my work computer has the ESR with the version number.

Last "yum update" was about 10 seconds ago.

Re: Firefox automatic update

Last time I checked, 44 - 38 was 6. So my old version was still 6 versions behind the latest version. Regardless of whether it should be "ESR" or not. And I know I am not (and was not) running an ESR version of Firefox. We use an ESR version at work (on windows), and the Help/About screen is indicat...

Firefox automatic update

I recently installed Firefox via *.tar file, downloaded directly from their website. I had previously used the RPM version which was about 6 versions behind (ver 38, versus the 44 I have now), and was able to locate where the older version was to overwrite the executables, etc... Everything works fi...
