Re: Cant install minecraft

Thanks Dave,
I was trying to install minecraft for my son.
My solution ended up being to install ubuntu on an old hard drive and just swap it in when my son wants to play.
I think we will try Minetest though.
Thanks again.

Cant install minecraft

I just tried to install minecraft using the minecraft.tar.gz file. I extracted the tar file and executed "./minecraft-launcher". Here is what I got: [root@localhost minecraft-launcher]# ./minecraft-launcher ./minecraft-launcher: /lib64/libstdc++.so.6: version `GLIBCXX_3.4.20' not found (required by ...

Logging into Samba from windows

I am running Centos 6.5 and I have set up a simple samba server to act as my Media server. My intention is that all computers on the network can see its contents as read only. But, I want to be able to login to from a windows machine to periodically upload new stuff. As far as I can tell, when I bro...

Re: Does Ext4 lose space vs NTFS?

OK, I tried remaking the file system using mke2fs as recommended.
It worked brilliantly.
I am able to copy the entire NTFS partition to my ext4 partition.
Thanks

Re: Does Ext4 lose space vs NTFS?

I am just about to try it.
But, according to your calcs (and I confirmed them) I should only be missing about 130 Gigs instead of the roughly 300 gigs that I am missing.
Where is the rest?
Also, is there some command that will tell me how much space is available in the drive?

Re: Does Ext4 lose space vs NTFS?

Thanks, I will try it.
What should I read in order to find out about this subject?
The man pages for mke2fs and dumpe2fs?
What else?

Does Ext4 lose space vs NTFS?

I am converting my media server from windows XP 64 to CentOs 6.5/Samba. On the new CentOs machine, I created a new 2TB software RAID 1 array using two new 2TB hard drives. I moved my two existing 2TB RAID 1 arrays (four 2TB hard drives connected to a promise RAID controller) from my old windows mach...

Re: How do I add a hard drive in Centos 6.5

Sorry, I am not even to that point. Let me explain. By unpartitioned, I mean that I just bought them and connected them. I have not even tried to partition them. I wanted to use fdisk or parted to partition them, but I cannot understand what parameters to pass to them. Since I have an existing hard ...
