Oh, you're more ambitious than me. I just have standalone FreeRADIUS with flat files. But yeah, one of the problems I found is that configuration file names and procedures have changed over the years. A lot of the existing tutorials are out of date. Probably mine will be, too, in six months' time. :D

I don't know, but I can make some suggestions:
  • ifconfig is still there but is deprecated
  • wired interface is disabled by default in the installer
  • it may not be called eth0 anymore (mine has a funny long name)
