Re: Cannot boot after CentOS 8.1 update

No I do not have kmod or anything extra installed, those are 4 systems, 2 acting as web servers and 2 acting as email servers.

Just normal things installed like apache and postfix.

Re: Cannot boot after CentOS 8.1 update

I had that happen to me on two VM systems. After the 8.1 update, they would not boot normally but rescue mode worked fine. In my case, something during the update broke /boot, more specifically, it was missing: /boot/config* /boot/grub2/device.map /boot/grub2/grub.cfg /boot/grub2/fonts /boot/i386-pc...

Re: can't log in the mail server (postfix + dovecot + opendkim) on thunderbird

auth-worker(22239): sql(www01,92.118.38.56): unknown user

looks like you are using an SQL database with dovecot, which can't find your user, or your SQL is not setup properly?

Re: firewalld public zone and internal zone clash?

Here is a test VM running CentOS 8.1, which has the identical firewalld configuration as a VM running CentOS 7.7. /etc/centos-release CentOS Linux release 8.1.1911 (Core) /etc/firewalld/zones/public.xml <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <zone> <short>Public</short> <description>Public</descript...

Re: firewalld public zone and internal zone clash?

Maybe this is an after effect, moving from iptables to nftables.

Re: firewalld public zone and internal zone clash?

I don't think its a bug, I believe firewalld was designed and documented to act like that, when multiple zones have the same target.

Re: firewalld public zone and internal zone clash?

You know what... its interesting that I hit the same issue on all my CentOS 8 servers, once I upgraded them to 8.1. I think something changed the way firewalld works in 8.1, compared to 7.x and 8.0. Previously, the "internal" zone could have just the ssh port and you'd be allowed both "public+intern...

Re: Centos 8 backup utility?

My personal preference is Bacula, its open source and supports CentOS.

Re: CentOS-announce for CentOS 8

indeed I could rephrase that, I think there are just 2-3 people working on it, thus my statement. A statement pointed towards Redhat to add more developers to the CentOS project ;)
