Re: Serial communications

Which user are you running systemd service under? You need to add that user to ether dialout or tty group (check the owner of those ports). gpasswd -a ServiceUser dialout Where ServiceUser is the user that you are running your service as. [Service] User=ServiceUser Group=ServiceUser Type=simple ...

Re: Probably Allocated Disk space Wrong ...?

I think TrevonH is right. If you are new to Linux, it would be the easiest path to start from scratch. The httpd config file is in /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf and public web files are in /var/www/html. If you are using this box for development, here is an example how I do it (working with php). I cre...

Re: How to rename the server in Centos 7

Try this in your nginx: listen 80; server_name example.com; instead of : listen hostname:80; server_name hostname; and for HTTPS: listen 443 ssl http2; server_name example.com; BTW. Your apache must be running on diferent port ( 81 for example) or turned off. You cant run both on the same port. If y...

Re: Your laptop experience with CentOS

The only issue I had with clean install and Nouveau, was that I couldn't adjust LCD backlit brightens but I did managed to work some how. For me, laptop/desktop should work without me compiling kernel and different packages to get latest version and that's why I decided to use Fedora which is pretty...

I tried that and it still didn't work. I had listen-on port 53 { any; }. I t was working without listen-on option but something happened and its stopped.

Re: Your laptop experience with CentOS

Well Nvidia is always a nightmare. Installation is fairly easy. I'm not sure about broadcom, but I know that performance wise it would suck.. Toutchpads are working out of the box. I used to run it on my Asus G75vw but decided to switch to Fedora and never looked back. CentOS is the best OS outhere ...

Re: facing problem in connecting to vmware machine using ssh command.

you can change vmnet0 to bridged mode and select "Bridged to" to auto or your desired network adapter then update you VM's configuration to use that interface. Login to your VM and run nmtui to configure static or DHCP IP and it should work

BIND won reply on public IP

I've been dealing with this all day. I can query my bind9 server when I do it on LAN, quering server's LAN IP but can't query it from outside or even if I do nslookup and change the query server IP to public IP, from that server I get Non-authoritative answer: *** Can't find mydomain.com: No answer ...

Re: BEST way EVER to make aan USB BOOTABLE for CENTOS7

Here is what I do when I create bootable USB with DD: Erace everything from the USB: sudo shred /dev/sdc Clone ISO to USB drive: dd if=CentOS-7-i386-bin-DVD-1511.iso of=/dev/sdc bs=64K sync The key is the sync parameter. Without this parameter it's a hit or miss but with it works every time for me.

Re: CentOS 7 Minimum, firewalld not installed by default?

I didn't realized that there is a 1602-01 and 1602-02 available, I did downloaded the 1511 one and thats the one I had issues with. I guess the problem is with the ISO it self. At first I've startrd to be concerned, why would they remove security future like firewall. Downloading the new one right n...
