restrict firewall service to ip address

I needed samba share access to my centos 7 machine and I used: firewall-cmd --add-service=samba --permanent and this worked fine. but I'd like to restrict samba access to one ip address on my lan. I've been searching google but can't find a way to singularly do this for a service. I see it can be do...

Re: root command create user vnc password

thankyou sml that command you gave worked in the script.
strangely enough I also found that
runuser -l tony -c vncpasswd -f <<EOF
# <password>
# <password>
# EOF
worked as well

root command create user vnc password

I'm creating a bash script that installs and sets up vnc server on centos 8. When i did this on centos 7 I used: runuser -l tony -c vncserver <<EOF <password> <password> EOF however that won't work on centos 8, it throws an error: vncserver has been replaced by a systemd unit. the normal manual meth...

can't change default keyring password

I'm trying to change the default keyring password in centos 7 gnome gui but it keeps asking me to enter the original password. I've never actually set this password in the first place. I have root access via a console so is there a way to correct this problem with a command?

Re: install lightweight gui on centos 7 server

thanks for the responses here and @TrevorH I did --enablerepo=epel-testing and it worked, MATE desktop installed without the usual atril package error, however the resultant desktop has no menu. This centos 7 install is on a vps and I'm viewing it with vnc from a windows pc. Here is a screenshot of ...

install lightweight gui on centos 7 server

I've been trawling google about installing a lightweight desktop on centos 7 server but everything i find seems out of date. It use to be 'yum groupinstall "Windows X system"" but that's no longer available in the yum groups list. Installing MATE desktop doesn't work, I get conflicts, the same with ...
