Re: Samba 4.4.4-14 same as 4.4.4-12?

Hm, re-downloaded the file and now -14 seems OK. Pretty weird. Apologies to the fora.

[SOLVED] Samba 4.4.4-14 same as 4.4.4-12?

Is it only me seeing that samba-4.4.4-14, published May 25 is identical (in terms of files and their content) to samba-4.4.4-12 from January 18 (source RPMs taken from vault.centos.org)? And that it not only lacks the fix for CVE-2017-7494 (as announced by RH), but it also removes the three patches ...

High memory usage on SSH sessions when having BGP

Hi, Just stumbled onto a curious situation. Two boxes, CentOS 7 with all updates, both run stock Quagga (zebra + bgpd only). Each box has an external full view BGP and there is also an iBGP between the two boxes. Everything works as expected with one weird exception: when I open an SSH session to an...

Change permissions on /dev/shm

Hi, everybody, I have a third-party piece of software which runs as regular user, but wants to write to /dev/shm. It works on CentOS 6, but not on CentOS 7: [root@rhel7-idb1 tmp]# ls -ld /dev/shm/ drwxr-xr-x. 2 root root 360 Oct 4 12:40 /dev/shm/ /etc/fstab has no entry for /dev/shm whatsoever. I kn...

Re: Installation from USB key: .iso not found

Trevor, I've seen this bug many times virtually with all versions of CentOS 6, up to an including 6.6 (last run on it in late November 2014 year on 3 different IBM machines!). It's not due to faulty download, it doesn't matter how you produce the USB stick either (I have used UNetBootin, I have used...

Re: wine64 from Epel does not start win32 applications

You'll likely need a separate, 32-bit bottle for this:

prompt> WINEARCH=win32 WINEPREFIX=~/.wine-x86 winecfg
promtp> WINEPREFIX=~/.wine-x86 wine nameoftheapp.exe

WWell,

Re: tmpfs and /tmp partition

The real culprit with /tmp on tmpfs (besides losing its content on reboot, which sometimes may be undesirable) is that tmpfs grows as long as there is RAM available. Now just imagine some process writing into /tmp a, say, input video stream... and the picture is not nice at all. Once upon a time som...

Re: AD DC in centOS

Hi, Done that few months ago. Used Samba 4.1 from source as it was not that difficult to compile and some RPMs that were available at the time lacked nice tools which will make your life easier. There is a very good setup instruction is Samba Wiki: http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba_AD_DC_HOWTO D...

Re: Elliptic curve certificate not working with openvpn

Hi, I believe OpenVPN uses the standard OpenSSL from CentOS and RHEL disables ECC in OpenSSL due to patent issues. You may, however, google around, it is not difficult to rebuild the stock RHEL SRPM with ECC enabled. They may even be ready-to-use RPMs in some of the popular thrid-party repos, so sho...
