CentOS 8 Stream version (yum upgrade)
In a qemu VM I yum upgrade version 7.7 (i386) alt-arch which takes me to 7.8.2003 (/etc/redhat-release). But on another VM I also upgraded Stream the same way. The kernel version matches CentOS 8.2 (4.18.0-193.10.el8.x86_64) but /etc/redhat-release still shows 8.1.1911. This is a minor issue. I'm ju...

Re: Keyboard in virtual CentOS 7.7 stops responding or gives extra characters
Ignore this. This does not appear to be a solution. It doesn't consistently work. It could still be a problem with the keyboard.

Install PowerTools from DVD
On a CentOS 8 virtual machine (network not working), I've successfully installed httpd, php, mysql. Can't install lynx which is on PowerTools repo. Is there a way to install the PowerTools repo from DVD? I have this config working under CentOS 7.7. Both of these are text installs running under Qemu....

Proper name for CentOS 8 DVD repo?
I've built a small environment on a Windows 10 host, running CentOS 7.7 (i386) and now CentOS 8 (both text). I'm using it to learn php & sql programming. (This is a work machine that I don't have admin access to, and is not a personal machine.) I learned under CentOS 7.7 I could install apps (from D...

Re: Keyboard in virtual CentOS 7.7 stops responding or gives extra characters
I thought it might be that too, but it doesn't seem to fix it. I'll try again next time to see if I can fix it. Thank you very much for the reply.

Keyboard in virtual CentOS 7.7 stops responding or gives extra characters
I'm running Qemu on a Windows 10 laptop. Can't run Virtualbox because I'm not admin. Sometimes after I switch away and back to the VM the keyboard isn't recognized or I get things like ^[A ^[B... I immediately thought of the escape key but my keyboard works normally in Windows. The only way to fix t...

CentOS 7.7 i386 running under qemu on Windows 10
Anyone running this successfully? I find it times out often during the install process and task must be killed. I'm really only doing this to prove it can be done. I have a work laptop without admin rights so can't install x64 native. I can get x64 CentOS running under qemu but it's really slow. I h...

CentOS 8 running under Qemu - can't log in, very slow
Sorry for the really stupid question. Qemu is very slow running on an i5 processor. It's a work machine and I don't have admin access. So this was an experiment. But the thing is so slow that I can't figure out the right way to log in. I have a VM running in graphical mode. Shows time and date that'...
