Re: Install CentOS 7 packages in CentOS 8?

Thanks TrevorH, I am trying to put together a howto for the gnome-commander web site to explain how to build the program for CentOS/RHEL 8. I have done so for CentOS 7 and Ubuntu 18.04 and now Ubuntu 20.04. My objective is to be able to create a COPR project from scratch which will result in creatio...

Re: Install CentOS 7 packages in CentOS 8?

Thanks sml, I sort of suspected that about Raven. I have traced back to the Raven home page and I see where it came from. Now I need to figure out where to enter the Copr configuration information and change the project name/address to mine. Actually it might be easier to fork the other project and ...

Re: Install CentOS 7 packages in CentOS 8?

Hello PryMar56, Copr looks interesting. I guess I need to sign up for an account. I trust you are accessing Cope from a CentOS or RHEL 8 machine(?) Let me setup a Copr account and see what damage I can do  I have looked at your Copr work for gnome-commander but I sure cannot find the raven ...

Re: Install CentOS 7 packages in CentOS 8?

Thanks once more sml,

As I said earlier I know NOTHING about mock. Let me study on that for a bit. I will then put together a fresh test machine and see what sort of damage I can do :D

I suspect I will be back with some questions once I know what questions to ask.

Re: Install CentOS 7 packages in CentOS 8?

Thanks smi,

That works! Now I just have to figure out how to get from the source (am I correct that you are using a Fedora source rpm?) to the binary rpm to which you refer.

Re: Install CentOS 7 packages in CentOS 8?

Hello nitoyore, gnome-commander relies on some obsolete, depreciated packages such as gnome-vfs. The maintainer is actively working on upgrading out of this situation but apparently there is a LOT to do. gnome-commander can not be built on Ubuntu 20.04 nor Mint 20 as gnome-vfs and a few other bits a...

CentOS 7 packages in CentOS 8?

gnome-commander will build on CentOS 7. However, on CentOS 8 many of the packages needed to build the program are not in the CentOS 8 repos. On Ubuntu 20.04 I faced a similar situation. However, I was able to temporarily add the Ubuntu 18.04 repos and build gnome-commander just fine. Is it possible ...

Re: Translate an iptables rule to firewall-cmd

Starting with a "clean" firewall - no rules or anything applied - I examined the initial traffic, browsed a couple of pages from the subject computer and then ssh from the subject computer to the firewall computer. It appears that the INPUT, FORWARD AND OUTPUT chains were all touched. Initial: Chain...
