Re: Automate file start

Learn how to write a systemd unit file and have it launch it for you. It will also restart it when it fails (if you tell it to).

Re: Only Stream 9 innstaller not work

How did you copy the iso to the USB stick? See my Sig below for a link to the wiki page that has some advice about which tools to avoid.

Also, did you check that your downloaded file is not corrupted? There are sha256sums on all the mirrors showing what they should be.

Re: Centos Stream 8 and 9 installers don't recognize HDD

I suspect the disk has FakeRAID metadata on it. RHEL/CentOS ignore drives with this metadata as they expect it to appear as part of a FakeRAID array as well. You can erase the fakeraid metadata using the dmraid command (dmraid -E -r /dev/sdX but check the man page in case I have the wrong syntax). B...

Re: Unable to install lynx(and other packages) in centos8 stream OS

Is your network interface up? - it's down by default unless you used the interface to perform the install and you need to change it to ONBOOT=yes to make it come up automatically. Does it have the correct routes? Do you have working nameserver lines in /etc/resolv.conf? Are your yum repos enabled in...

Re: Centralized configuration controls solution(s) for CentOS?

I use puppet to do this sort of thing. I think Red Hat still have their Satellite product though it's now a bunch of other projects all packaged up together.

Re: CentOS 7 cloud image login failed after yum upgrade

virt-sysprep -a CentOS-7-x86_64-GenericCloud-2009.qcow2 --network --update --root-password password:root At a guess, this has corrupted the selinux context on the /etc/passwd and shadow files. Either boot with enforcing=0 on the kernel command line then restorecon -RFv /etc/passwd /etc/shadow or to...

Also there should be a load of CentOS 7 announcements arriving at the moment. Red Hat retired a service that was in use to gather that info and no-one noticed that the announcements were not going out until it was mentioned in this thread. It's been change to use the replacement API and all the pend...
