Re: Change Mac Address of centos 7.9

Edit /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-$interface (e.g. ifcfg-eth0) and add the line MACADDR=xx:yy:zz:aa:bb:cc to it, save it and restart the interface (or reboot). However, if it's a VPS then your provider may have the system locked down so it can only use the MAC address they have assigned you ...

Re: Best of Identity and Authentication Providers

NIS is ancient, deprecated and rather horrid. Red Hat's idM is IPA, IPA bundles an LDAP server and a lot more Red Hat have deprecated and stopped shipping openldap-servers in CentOS 8. Windows AD is Windows, why would you make a linux system dependent on Windows? You missed 389ds which is also an LD...

Re: ksoftirqd service utilized 100% of CPU

Is this VM doing lots of I/O? I've found that KVM VMs have a limitation - up to and including 8 vcpus, it distributes interrupts nicely across all 8 cores. Go to 9 cores and there's a magic change and all of a sudden, all IRQ interrupts are taken only on core 0. Do lots of I/O and generate lots of i...

Re: How to recover data from RAID1

Don't see any maintenance cost. Then you're not looking hard enough or perhaps not in the right place. RH maintain their own branch of the kernel for each version of RHEL. They have to do all the maintenance on all of the code in that kernel, pulling in all required changes from the mainline linux ...

Re: How to optimize the kernel of a highly concurrent web server?

I would suspect there are many things you can do to tune an nginx setup and very few of them will have anything to do with the kernel.

Maybe start by asking the actual question you have not what you think you want to do.

Re: Dealing with EPEL Conflicts

That will work but is not really the right solution. It would be better to get the CentOS extras copies of all those things upgraded and to do that it will need a bugs.centos.org report.

Re: Centos Mirror Server İnstall

Well you most likely don't want a full mirror of all content going back to CentOS 2.1 so I would suggest that you follow the instructions on the wiki about how to create a local mirror of a particular version/point release. For information on how to go about setting up a local CentOS mirror please s...

Re: centos not booting with latest kernel.

More information is required.

How does it not boot?
Have you removed 'rhgb' and 'quiet' from the kernel command line so that you see all the boot time messages?
Do they give you any clues?
What sort of hardware is it on?
Is it a VM?
Do your keyboard LEDs flash regularly when it does not boot?
