Re: Unable to ping any IP address from CentOS 8 VPS

Show an example of being able to ping "by domain" and not "by ip". Do you get results from `ping 8.8.8.8`?

Re: Unable to ping any IP address from CentOS 8 VPS

By "able to ping domains" I presume you mean you can e.g. ping google.com? How about if you then ping the ip address that that domain resolves to? Because otherwise it makes no sense at all.

Is the 'x' in x.97.169.30 and x.18.255.239 the same value? What is the netmask on your current interface?

Re: Ports opened for SMTP (587 / 465), still cannot connect

You don't need to (and should not) open ports in firewalld to allow outbound connections to other servers. Those are allowed by default and aren't done that way. If you cannot connect to the server on those ports from your own machine then it implies that either the site in question isn't listening ...

Re: Sudo -u asking for password even when NOPASSWD: ALL is set

username ALL:ALL NOPASSWD: ALL This says, if you are "username" then you can sudo anything you like without a password. sudo -u username systemctl hibernate This says, become "username" and then run systemctl as username. If you don't run that as "username" then it will not match the sudo allow so ...

Re: /lib64/libstdc++.so.6: version `GLIBCXX_3.4.20' not found

Yes, get a package built for CentOS 7. This one is not as it needs a newer version of libstdc++ than we ship. That will not change so the other alternative is to change the package.

Re: udev rules are failing to rename network interface

If you must rename them then rename them to something other than ethX. It's failing to rename eth0 to eth1 because eth1 already exists.

Perhaps what you really want to do is add HWADDR="th:em:ac:ad:dr:es" to the correct ifcfg-ethX config file.

Trying asking on a Fedora-centric venue where they may know the answer. This is the CentOS forum, not Fedora. And BTW, Fedora 32 is EOL so you should be using a newer version.

Re: is possible recovery SERVER ACCESS with network.service OFF ?

The commands you ran are transient not permanent so as long as you didn't touch the config files it should come back after a reboot the same as it was before.

Re: is possible recovery SERVER ACCESS with network.service OFF ?

Unless you have some sort of remote console access like an iDRAC/iLO then there is nothing you can do except by physically rebooting the machine
