Re: Need help on implementing ioctl() TIOCGICOUNT for USB-Serial

Hey Alan, thanks for the try. Do you think it would be possible to get a patched pl2303.ko via ELRepo? I've read several entries that this special IO should be implemented in Kernels >= 2.6.39 but when I tested last week on a colleagues Suse 12 (Blame him :-D) with a very recent 3.X - Kernel I found...

PS3 Media Server Install for CentOS 6.3

Hello, may be a little of topic. But I have made good experience with mediatomb-Mediaserver. You can find it in RPMForge-repo or EPEL. It's quite easy to setup (it has web-interface, which let's you select the directories you want to share) and it works with my Philips TV without problems. Maybe it'...

Need help on implementing ioctl() TIOCGICOUNT for USB-Serial

Hello all, I have a problem. I'd like to use a windows-based tool for serial-port interface with WINE. When I do so, wine gives me an error that ioctl() for the USB-serial-device ( a pl2303-device) fails with: TIOCGICOUNT not being implemented. After googling it seems, that this function is not impl...

Re: Yum update in CENTOS 5.6 from behind Automatic Proxy

Hi Phil, I am also working in a company with a password-proxy. In our case it only allows HTTP-validation. That means as long as you are working in the browser you can see the updates, but this doesn't work for yum or rpm or other command-line-tools. I'm dealing with this situations since CentOS 5.4...

Re: Kernel Module Dependencies

Hello Matt, don't know if it helps, but Alan Bartlett built a kernel-module for minix for me some time ago: https://www.centos.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=18724&forum=37&post_id=68722#forumpost68722 When I checked the download link, I found it's no longer available. But the good news is...

Re: Can anyone recommend a DLNA server for Centos 5.5?

Hello Richard, to be honest with you: I used mediatomb on Fedora 12. There it belongs to the Base-Repo and is in Version 0.12.1. Transcoding worked for me, although it was quite tough to configure until it was running. Can't speak for the version 0.11, but if I were you, I would give it a shot. Mayb...

Re: Can anyone recommend a DLNA server for Centos 5.5?

Hello, depending on your needs: I can recommend ushare. It can be found in the RPMforge repository and is a very small, but fast UPNP-Server. I used this together with my Philips TV (UPNP-client) and I was able to stream Music, Pictures and Video to it. Nowadays I switched using "mediatomb" also, as...

Re: Creating /dev/mqueue at boot

Hello Phil, thanks for your reply. I had also thought about creating a startup-script and placing it in /etc/init.d (and referencing it from /etc/rcX.d), but your solution is even shorter. In the meantime a colleague of mine had another proposal for a workaround: Instead of mounting the mqueue-files...

[SOLVED] Creating /dev/mqueue at boot

Hello all, I'm running Centos 5.5 on a usual Desktop-PC. For a software I have to create I want to use POSIX Message Queues. These need to have a filesystem mounted (type mqueue). So typically you have to create a dir /dev/mqueue and mount mqueze-filesystem on it. [code]mount -t mqueue none /dev/mqu...

Re: CentOS 5.4 | print serving

Hello cooch, if you open up the printer in a browser, what does it say? E.g. in my homesetup it looks like this (sorry german version of cups): Beschreibung: Canon iP3000 Ort: Marke und Modell: Canon PIXMA iP3000 - CUPS+Gutenprint v5.0.2 Druckerstatus: frei, Aufträge akzeptieren, publiziert. Geräte ...
