Re: CentOS Version
You embedded image is broken, but the feet icon is the generic Gnome desktop icon: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GNOME So if you're seeing that, it sounds like a machine where someone replaced the stock version of Gnome with a different one, or perhaps installed a custom theme that uses the generic ...

Re: Live CD image with automatic console login
Figured out the problem. What I missed was the code to enable autologin was part of a block of code that was being written to /etc/rc.d/init.d/livesys, rather than being executed by livecd-creator itself. After I moved the commands outside that block, the image automatically logs in as expected.

Live CD image with automatic console login
What I'm trying to to: Create a CentOS 7-based custom LiveCD image, with no GUI, that will automatically login on the console (and run a program, but I'm not that far yet). The problem I'm having: The image boots in VirtualBox but does not automatically log in on the default console, but if I switch...

Re: Is CentOS still good for server?
Nothing has technologically changed about CentOS since last month. So if CentOS was good for you before, it's still good for you now. The question is, knowing that CentOS as we know it has a limited future, is it something you want to deal with? Will your server want to run past December 2021? Then ...

Re: What do you think of the recent Red Hat announcement about CentOS Linux/Stream?
While Stream might work for us in some use cases, there are others where it's not appropriate. Right now, we'll let our CentOS 7 systems continue as is. We have a handful of CentOS 8 systems already, but will leave them as is for now. I've started looking at Oracle Linux and if I have to build a new...

Re: Yum only verifies, doesn't install or update [resolved]
Thanks. Just stopping the McAfee service didn't work, but completely removing it with rpm -e did allow the update to proceed.

Re: Yum only verifies, doesn't install or update
That does look like what I'm seeing, but since I'm a CentOS user and not a RHEL subscriber, I can't see the solution.
EDIT: If I got myself a free Developer Subscription does that give access to the solutions?

Re: Yum only verifies, doesn't install or update
Yes we have a mandated McAfee Agent installed. Haven't seen this issue on other machines that also have the same agent. We tried stopping the agent service but still weren't able to update.

Re: Yum only verifies, doesn't install or update
Disk space looks ok, and if it were an issue with not having enough space to do the full 6.8 update, doing individual packages ought to work. df -h Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on /dev/sda6 43G 31G 9.9G 76% / tmpfs 1.9G 572K 1.9G 1% /dev/shm /dev/sda1 370M 126M 225M 36% /boot /dev/sda2 18...
