Server started rebooting by itself

Hi, Merry Christmas to all on the board! I have a CentOS server build on OVH provided hardware and it's started rebooting by itself. It's done it on the 21st, 24th and 25th of Dec. I'd like to know if I should treat it as a hardware problem or OS problem. Here is en extract of /var/log/messages: Dec...

Re: Problem with SCSI tape drive

Hi Michael, Thanks very much for that advice, I didn't think of the simple things that could be wrong. All I did to resolve this is to plug the SCSI cable into a different SCSI connector on my SCSI card and the computer boots up quick and passes straight through the "Loading aic79xx Driver" stage wi...

Problem with SCSI tape drive

Hi, I have fitted a SCSI card and SCSI tape drive for the first time and installed CentOS 5.2. On boot up of the install DVD, it took a long time to progress past the "Loading aic79xx Driver" stage, but I pressed on and installed CentOS anyway. With CentOS installed, the boot of the OS that's now in...

Re: nothing in /lib/modules

Hi Gerald, OK, I'll raise the question with them. What I can't get my head round is that on the OpenVZ web page http://wiki.openvz.org/Main_Page It shows the kernel versions for it and they all have the word "stab" in the version number. E.G. 2.6.18/028stab056.1 Yet, the kernel version I have is 2.6...

Re: nothing in /lib/modules

Hi Gerald, Is 2.6.24.2-xxxx-std-ipv4-32 definately a OpenVZ/Virtuozzo kernel? I know that 2.6.18-53.1.13.el5.028stab053.10 is (I'm not with the provider that supplied that kernel anymore). Before I go back to my provider, I want to refer them to something that they can see without quibble that them ...

Re: nothing in /lib/modules

Hi Gerald,

Thanks for your reply.

Could you let me know where there is a list of CentOS kernel versions, as I want to go back to my host provider and ask them to explain why they have not provided me with a CentOS system, as that's what I selected for them to provide me.

Thank you.

Richard.

Re: nothing in /lib/modules

Hi, I have just got a reply from the host provider where my 2.6.24.2-xxxx-std-ipv4-32 is running and they say that their kernel does not support the module system. They say that if I want to use modules, I would have to recompile the kernel myself. So, on to the reason why I think I need modules... ...

Re: nothing in /lib/modules

Hi toracat,

I am having a similar problem with 2.6.24.2-xxxx-std-ipv4-32, is that a CentOS kernel?

Thanks in advance.

Re: httpd will not start due to error with libm.so.6

Hi Ned, I've checked my process list and auditd is running. SElinux is currently set to "Permissive". I don't get any text when trying "grep httpd /var/log/audit/audit.log | audit2allow" I do get the following if I don't pipe into audit2allow, E.G "grep httpd /var/log/audit/audit.log": [code] type=U...
