Re: TCP wrappers (hosts.allow/deny): do you use them anymore?

TCP Wrappers was the greatest and easiest feature of Linux -- it's a shame it is being phased out for more complicated and therefore hacker-prone features.

Downgrading the xorg server

Hi there. Running Centos 7.4 now. It came with xorg-x11-server-Xorg-1.19.3-11.el7.x86_64 However the AMD drivers refuse to work stating: error: Detected X Server version 'XServer 1.19.3_64a' is not supported. Supported versions are X.Org 6.9 or later, up to XServer 1.10 (default:v2:x86_64:lib:XServe...

Re: Cannot get any sound with ASUS M4A785-M motherboard

thank you for your information.

I concluded that if I plug in a webcam, the whole system reverts to using that for microphone AND sound output,
and ignores anything else that is built-in..

This is a major deficiency.. -t

Sound achitecture messed up in Centos 5

On two different machines running Centos 5, whenever I plug in a webcam, the sound disappears.. The audio tools can no longer play sound..Is there an update or anything to do against this? It seems whenever the webcam is plugged in, it takes precedence for audio output over the on board sound card.....

iptables U32 does not work

When I try something like, I get: iptables -A FORWARD -p udp -m length --length 39 -m u32 --u32 '27&0x8f=7' --u32 '31=0x527c4833' -j DROP iptables: No chain/target/match by that name. So I re-compiled the kernel enabling WAN Router, and all the subsections. Downloaded latest iptables, removed the RP...

Re: Cannot get any sound with ASUS M4A785-M motherboard

Btw, when things did not work, I googled and found that people recommended I add the ElRepo and try the drivers there. So I enabled that repo, and re-installed: alsa-lib , alsa-utils, kmod-alsa. Things did not improve. Currently I am working on disabling ElRepo and reinstalling stock alsa-lib and al...

Re: Cannot get any sound with ASUS M4A785-M motherboard

Many thanks for your reply. When I run system-config-soundcard, the first page displays two sound cards: First tab says ATI: Maker: ATI Model: Technologies Inc R700 Audio Device [Radeon HD 4000 Series] Module: snd-hda-intel Underneath the PCM Device pull down box is empty. No values can be picked. S...

Cannot get any sound with ASUS M4A785-M motherboard

I tried pretty much everything, but I cannot get sound from a machine that has the M4A785-M motherboard,
and a Radeon HD 4670..

My details are at: http://www.alsa-project.org/db/?f=34ba2141c86cb61c4207002fc9a9a4f5ef0e78a8
I would appreciate any assistance..

Re: VirtualBox networking with real hardware on host

Did anyone try this with a host that has multiple IP addresses in form of
eth0, eth0:1, eth0:2, etc?

I assume one would have to change them all to br0:1, br0:2, etc?

thanks, -t
