Re: GRE tunnels with firewalld

Sorry, not quite following you there. The 'protocol id' is 47 (GRE). Not sure what you mean by 'manipulate' the traffic, but adding the protocol or rich rules specifying the protocol seems to have no effect; packets get dropped. Adding the tunnel interface or IP address has no effect either. This la...

GRE tunnels with firewalld

I have set up a GRE tunnel between two CentOS 7 systems. The tunnel works -- I can send packets back and forth, ping the tunnel interfaces, etc. I've trying to figure the minimalist firewall rules for the tunnel to work, and it's confusing. I should think that just enabling the GRE protocol would wo...

Re: Install fails MSI Z270-A pro

Okay, good news: I got it to work. Bad news: I haven't the foggiest clue how. Seriously. Same board, same DRAM, same CPU, same PSU, same SSD, same USB stick. I left the system alone for a few days to allow the impulse to smash it into little itsy bitsy pieces could recede. I put in the USB stick, bo...

Re: Install fails MSI Z270-A pro

I think there's an F missing between "mother" and "board". The PSU was used, but it seemed to work. It's rated at 750W, so it's more than enough to drive the MB, SSD and CPU fan. However, in the masochistic quest of grasping at straws, I tried a brand-spanking-new, fresh out of the box 850W PSU I wa...

Re: Install fails MSI Z270-A pro

Update. I think I got a bad MB. First, I tried swapping DIMMs around. Didn't change anything. I finally got the new DVD drive. After connecting, the drive itself acted like it was faulty as well; it didn't power up, spin up, and wouldn't recognize the eject button. However, as long as the drive was ...

Re: Install fails MSI Z270-A pro

I'm using a 16GB thumb drive; that's the smallest they had. So if this doesn't work, there's $6 shot to hell. :)

Re: Install fails MSI Z270-A pro

I'm using the image that was labeled CentOS-7-x86_64-DVD-1708.iso. I have a macbook, so I just used the supplied 'dd' command to copy it to the USB drive: dd if=CentOS-7-x86_64-DVD-1708.iso of=/dev/disk2 After the copy command completes, MacOS throws a warning about an 'unreadable device'. Obviously...

Re: Install fails MSI Z270-A pro

Thanks for your suggestions 1) There aren't any sata cables involved; my USB is connected directly to the motherboard. It's possible the cable to the destination drive is bad, but the install process isn't getting far enough to even ask about the destination yet. The BIOS diagnostics recognized the ...

Install fails MSI Z270-A pro

I'm trying to install Centos 7.4 on a new system with an MSI Z270-A Pro motherboard & i5 chip, from a USB thumb drive. I've updated the board to the latest bios; the bios and memory diagnostics report no hardware errors. The system recognizes the USB drive as a bootable device. The initial grub boot...

Re: Install on VMWare ESX panics

Hmm. On further investigation, this looks mighty similar to a problem reported in Bugzilla at https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=607947

And could we not use keyword 'submit' for selecting the form type? I keep hitting this and loosing my posts :-(
