Your security team should report that to Red Hat.

Re: yum install got broken on Centos 8

I did already show you how to disable a repo (FedoraPeople-sea). The latest error message shows: https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/Alexx2000/CentOS_8/repodata/repomd.xml That looks suspicious, because there is a colon in the middle. Perhaps you have typo in the definition of home_Alex...

Re: yum install got broken on Centos 8

Third party repos, like 'home_Alexx2000' are not part of "most reliable". The only way to prevent user from messing up the system is to prevent user from doing anything. The el8 does not do that. Apple might. Either your repo definition is flawed or that repo has an issue. Disable or fix the third-p...

Re: Docker CentOS 7 Container Logging SFTP

I don't know containers, but I do know that there is 'podman' ( yum list podman\* ) and 'singularity' (in EPEL). * Neither requires a daemon * Both can be run as regular user * With user namespaces the uid/gid inside podman container do not overlap with host uid/gid * Podman can use docker images/re...

Re: List of packages required by a group?

That reminds me of: * Package yum-utils has command show-installed . It does list the packages that are currently installed, but in "compact form". Rather than listing all, it lists the packages and groups that you have to explicitly install ... and you will get the rest via dependencies. The output...

Re: nginx (nginx-1.20.1-1.el7.ngx.x86_64 to nginx-1.20.1-2.el7.x86_64) update fails

Removing: 1:nginx-1.20.1-1.el7.ngx.x86_64 (@nginx-stable) Updated By: 1:nginx-1.20.1-2.el7.x86_64 (epel) You do have nginx installed from repository nginx-stable . You try to replare it with packages from repository epel . Two repositories provide nginx, but they have packaged it differently. Incom...

Re: CVE-2021-40438

The 2.4.6-97.el7.centos.1 changelog claims: * Thu Oct 07 2021 Luboš Uhliarik <luhliari@redhat.com> - 2.4.6-97.1 - Resolves: #2011729 - CVE-2021-40438 httpd: mod_proxy: SSRF via a crafted request uri-path containing "unix:" That gives two suspects: The patch does not resolve the issue completely in R...

You've explicitly enabled epel -- was that a precaution
Yes. I keep most repos disabled. Gives me feeling that I have some control.

Re: Ways to encrypt password, username,ip adddress when ftp files from local to remote server ?

First, FTP is not very secure. Doesn't it pass password over net in cleartext? How about rsync or sftp, which both use SSH? If you have data stored in the script encrypted, then the script has to decrypt the data during runtime. For that it needs a password during runtime. Do you prefer to write the...
