Re: FirewallD for VPS Hosting Server

We have to open certain ports just for incoming connections and certain just for outgoing... on tcp or udp. The default ingress firewall setup in RHEL systems has been that: 1. Traffic within localhost is allowed 2. Related/established connections can continue 3. ICMP is allowed 4. Some services/po...

Re: Problem with the repos

You have two MPI versions installed: mpi/mpich-x86_64 mpi/openmpi-x86_64 (D) The openmpi-x86_64 seems to be set explicitly as default. Default means that if one does module add mpi Then current shell's environment is modified to find the openmpi-x86_64. If you do module add mpi/mpich-x86_64 then you...

Those can't be all on search path; only one could be found. The MPI packages use environment modules system to resolve that...

Re: kernel-devel-4.18.0-301.1.el8 breaks backlight control on my laptop

I did not realize CentOS stream could be found somewhere below RHEL Red Hat emphasized that development of RHEL will be more transparent and inclusive when they shifted focus of CentOS Project from down stream CentOS Linux to up stream CentOS Stream. If Stream is built by RHEL engineers and is a pr...

I run the command and the code is showed below.
The output proves that the broken repo was the problem.

Now you can install mpich. If you will compile your own programs, then you probably do need the mpich-devel package too.

Re: Problem with the repos

I tried both command and nothing. Not "nothing". The "dnf list" did report the same error as earlier commands. It is possible that it prevents generating a list. The "config-manager --disable" updates the configuration of a repository to make it disabled. Disabled repo will not be used. Thus furthe...

the software I would like to use seems to denpend on the version of gcc.
I'm skeptic about such claims.
