You've explicitly enabled epel -- was that a precaution
Yes. I keep most repos disabled. Gives me feeling that I have some control.

Re: Ways to encrypt password, username,ip adddress when ftp files from local to remote server ?

First, FTP is not very secure. Doesn't it pass password over net in cleartext? How about rsync or sftp, which both use SSH? If you have data stored in the script encrypted, then the script has to decrypt the data during runtime. For that it needs a password during runtime. Do you prefer to write the...

Re: after update Centos 7.9 psql back into old version

Never used postgresql so I wouldn't really know, but you could check this: - how is postmaster started, and with which user? - look at login scripts and environmental variables for "user" This is a good point. on root: psql -V -> psql (PostgreSQL) 9.2.24 and on user: psql -V -> psql (PostgreSQL) 11...

anaconda recognizes my wireless card ... my desktop can support ethernet and/or wireless connection.
Anaconda detects devices in the system (that it can) and configures them. I usually disable unnecessary devices in EFI. That way they do not show at all.

Re: CVE-2021-40438

Red Hat has released a fix for RHEL 7 in 2021-10-14:
https://access.redhat.com/security/cve/cve-2021-40438
https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2021:3856
The version on those packages is 2.4.6-97.el7_9.1

It indeed seems that CentOS build of the packages is not ready yet.

Re: Stuck with Mesa GLX Indirect renderer after kernel update, NVIDIA driver reinstallation

Package manager can tell whether new RPM package would conflict with already installed RPM packages. Package manager knows which files/links to remove, when it uninstalls RPM package and whether there are dependant packages. Package manager has no idea what changes NVidia's .run does to the system. ...

I'm installing a VM on a VM.
That requires that the hypervisor on the bare metal host is explicitly able and set to support nested virtualization. Has OVH done so?
KVM nested on KVM should be technically possible. VBox nested on KVM ... no idea.

Re: I cant add user with GUI

but first i tried this in GUI on centos8 and it worked, then i deleted the user but i can't do it anymore, how is that possible The earlier GUI must have had a flaw that allowed what it should not have. The current one does it as it should have all along. That is perfectly normal; bug are found and...
