Re: Centos 8 kickstart partition failure

Is the device-name really "sda" in VM? What I have done is first run one interactive install. Then, read the kickstart file from the machine; installer saves a copy in /root/. That copy contains also the choices that were made interactively. That I used as base for my kickstart files. Might take som...

Re: Offline Kernel Upgrade

Don't. The kernel-3.10.0-1160.36.2.el7 released this week is the latest and greatest for CentOS Linux 7. It contains all the security patches that Red Hat deems necessary for RHEL 7. Red Hat backports fixes. They don't rebase core packages of Enterprise Linux. See https://access.redhat.com/security/...

Re: CVE-2021-33909

I guess it depends on size of build and severity.

If we look at the previous kernel release, 3.10.0-1160.31.1.el7

@desertcat:
Rocky and Alma have their own Fora. If their documentation is not clear about things like third-party repos, then it is better for you and them to ask there so that they know to improve their presentation.

/boot/grub2/grub2.cfg
Wait, my legacy grubs are: /boot/grub2/grub.cfg

What else do you have in /boot/grub2/
and what do you have in the "good" node?

Re: CPU throttling and ATLAS compile.

Do you have EFI in use? EFI has grub config in different place: # ls -ld /etc/grub2* lrwxrwxrwx. 1 root root 22 Mar 19 12:25 /etc/grub2.cfg -> ../boot/grub2/grub.cfg lrwxrwxrwx. 1 root root 31 Mar 19 12:25 /etc/grub2-efi.cfg -> ../boot/efi/EFI/centos/grub.cfg Furthermore, you did add the option by e...

Then came KDE 5. Instead of building on KDE 4, they tore things down to the ground and started over, in effect re-inventing the wheel.

KDE 5 is determined to force feed you their concept
Isn't that what they say about GNOME 2 and 3, not to mention Apple and MS?

Re: Kernel updates on CentOS Linux release 7.9.2009

CentOS Linux 7 is derived from RHEL 7. Red Hat backports security fixes. See: https://access.redhat.com/security/updates/backporting Are there issues that Red Hat has fixed in 8, but deemed non-critical in 7 and hence left as is? Probably. Are there new issues in 8 that 7 does not have nor ever did?...

Re: bond/bridge can only brought up manually

The DELAY is used to set bridge forward delay . I have Bridge -> VLAN -> Bond -> NIC setups and they come up nice without delays. Consider also Team as replacement for Bond. Does that mean I shouldn't do anything anymore directly in the config file? Aren't there both possibilities to do it? If ifcfg...

Re: bond/bridge can only brought up manually

NetworkManager is activated; but I created the ifcfg-files manually. Do I need some nmcli commands? What meands DELAY parameter in ifcfg-files? If we write configuration files manually, then we have to ensure that they are logically and syntactically valid. If we use the tools (like nmcli, nmtui, G...
