Re: Change Mirror

The package manager in CentOS Stream 8 does query the CentOS server for a list of mirrors and gets such repositories that are "near" your location. Then it downloads packages from those mirror servers. That is what the 'mirrorlist' in the repo config does: points to server that will give list of mir...

Re: Problem during upgrading centos version

Indeed. The only supported method is to install a new OS from scratch. User data you will probably transfer by some means. That said, if you really have nothing to lose with your current install (have valid backups, etc), then you could give ELevate a shot. https://almalinux.org/elevate (It can't mi...

Re: [Ask] how to move raid1 on centos7 to another server

I presume that you have backups. What would happen, if you just take the disks from old server, connect them to new server, and boot? An obvious issue is that config and drivers in initramfs do match the hardware of the old server which does give you some work, if new hardware is different. Still do...

Re: CentOS8 Network

NAME=eno1 DEVICE=enol Is that 'l' a typo? Doesn't your gateway offer DHCP? It is really much more convenient to configure a network centrally at DHCP server than manually in individual machines. What is between this machine and all the other machines of same subnet (including the gateway)? If you d...

Re: NVIDIA: API and kernel mod mismatch

You could run: sudo package-cleanup --oldkernels That gets the list of older kernel packages and hands them to "yum remove". (Not the two latest and not the currently running kernel.) However, that does not help you at all, because you have only two versions installed. You could keep only one with: ...

Re: CentOS java-1.8.0-openjdk security

According to Red Hat, the last on that list (CVE-2021-41035) does affect package 'java-1.8.0-ibm', which CentOS does not have. https://access.redhat.com/security/cve/cve-2021-41035 CVE-2021-35586 was fixed in RHEL package 'java-1.8.0-openjdk-1.8.0.312.b07-1.el7_9' https://access.redhat.com/security/...

Re: CentOS Stream 9 nfv-source error

Yes, when you do install with yum (aka "dnf"), the yum will look packages from known and enabled repositories. A repository is "known", if there is an entry for it in some /etc/yum.repos.d/*.repo -file. A known repository is "disabled", if its entry contains "enabled=0". If there is "enabled=1" or n...

Re: How to setup centOs cluster on VMware workstation

Of course you can run multiple systems on VMware, probably easier than gathering physical machines.

What is a "cluster"? Isn't it two or more systems running some software/service? What service do you have in mind?
