mysql <-> apache chatting

We've got two boxes that periodically "chat" with each other and I've hit a dead end on how to trace what they are chatting about. About once every other week on different days and different times -- it seems there's no real schedule -- mrtg graphs show the interfaces of a sql server sending a web s...

Re: SAINT?

hah! "Bob the Butcher" ... wow. So John's still out there? It always seems like these things were suppose to be deprecated by another one down the pipe ... Anyways, I wasn't necessarily looking for password "recovery". More like door knocking on websites to see if customers are using something like ...

SAINT?

What are we suppose to use nowadays for password testing? Saint? Satan? Crack?? I've inherited a web server that was just hacked into and my hunch is weak passwords (on the customer end). Re: journal aborted & resize inode errors

No. Hardware problems duplicated by a mirror? heh. Only if syslog showed some sdaN errors -- which it doesn't.

Controller failing? More likely. Eitherway, dumping the filesystem to a new disk via tar should reveal some (more definitive) answers.

journal aborted & resize inode errors

Hi, a web server hung a week ago, aka. unresponsive even at the console, and there's about 3 pieces to the puzzle that I hope someone sees something that prevents another collapse. 1. the morning I found out, at 2am oddly enough, the ext3 journal stopped. Oct 16 02:00:09 web1 kernel: EXT3-fs error (...

moving MBR w/ RAID

New install; won't boot. I put my MBR on the 2nd RAID disk because that's where /boot is and that's what the Installation Manual recommended for hardware RAID, but now it (obviously) won't boot -- as I suspected; I've always booted off the 1st disk, especially for old BIOSes. So can i just dd=if [th...
