Re: Missing RAM

What I have noted is that of the T3500 machines I have the ones reporting having 12G in CentOS have three 4G sticks in the first three slots and the two that mis-report the RAM have six 2G stick.

I'll see if Dell offer any help other than "Please reinstall the original OS!"

Re: Missing RAM

A15 initially bricked it but after a hard reset it came up and appeared to complain about the memory (only getting this second hand as it is 1000's of miles away. Anyway, doesn't appear to have changed much; BIOS-provided physical RAM map: BIOS-e820: 0000000000010000 - 0000000000092000 (usable) BIOS...

Re: Missing RAM

You would think ;-)
However, these machines are running long simulations of complex analogue electronic circuits so the more RAM the better.

Ah ha! A15 in "Other versions"
Weird that the latest version doesn't appear as default.
I'll try it and get back back to you.

Re: Missing RAM

gerald_clark,

Rebooting with the latest kernel was one of the first things I tried. That's why the dmesg was from yesterday when it was running 2.6.18-308.8.2.el5.

It is currently running 2.6.18-308.11.1.el5

Regards,

Steve

[SOLVED] Missing RAM

Hi, Running 5.8, kernel 2.6.18-308.11.1.el5 on a Dell T3500. I recently upgraded the RAM from 6G to 12G (m/b is capable of 24G) The BIOS (and my OCS Inventory client) recognise that 12G is fitted but free and htop only show 8G. I have tried (as per https://www.centos.org/docs/5/html/5.1/Installation...
