I was able to download/install tripwire with yum after adding that repository you suggested. I'm following this guide for configuration: http://www.linuxjournal.com/article/8758 I'm at the point where I'm generating the initial database with the command tripwire --init --cfgfile twcfg.enc --polfi...

Re: setting a static IP

I checked the firewall rules and they were fine (actually i did iptstate in one window and arp in another window and watch everything, nothing got blocked. I did that with ping also, same result). I turned out to be a network problem. The layer 3 guy here at my office (that's OS...

Re: setting a static IP

I just did an arp and found that both hosts listed ,2.1 & 2.11, say (incomplete) where it should have their mac listed. So apparently I'm not arping either.

setting a static IP

I have a 4.5 box on which I am attempting to setup a static IP. Tripwire Install

I have a fresh 4.5 install and I want to get tripwire setup. I tried yum install tripwire but get no match for argument: tripwire So I found a host for the rpm on the internet and downloaded it with wget http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/extras/6/i386/tripwire-2...

Re: Locking Down CentOS 4.5
Yum uses RPM. Think of it as a front-end.
Did you look at the guide I linked to? Does it look good to you?

Locking Down CentOS 4.5

I recently loaded CentOS 4.5 on a new system. I am looking for a guide for hardening the system. I found a pretty good one for Redhat: http://www.puschitz.com/SecuringLinux.shtml I was hoping I could use it, but it deals with rpms and I know CentOS uses yum, which got me thinking that I shoul...
