rpmforge

A while back I added the rpmforge repository to my list to get an RPM for some software I wanted to test. Well, rpmforge came along and updated a whole mess of other things as well. I'm curious, is there some way to get rid of rpmforge AND get all the rpms it updated to go back to their CentOS count...

Sounds like hardware. Perhaps a bad HD? try running an fsck -yf from a rescue CD on the drive and see what comes up. Are you using LVM? ext3?

But that doesn't tell what RPMs I need to have installed. Has anyone written a script to do this?

Due to federal regulations, we have a need at work to generate patch compliance reports on RHEL and CentOS boxes. Updates

Does CentOS ever release it's own updates, or does it always wait for the upstream vendor's source before anything is fixed? Has CentOS ever provided fixes that the upstream vendor has used?
