Re: kickstart in centos 6

Found my answer on a fedora forum. Anyone that finds this thread this is what I did:

boot: linux ksdevice=em1 ip=x.x.x.x netmask=x.x.x.x gateway=x.x.x.x dns=x.x.x.x ks=http://x.x.x.x/ks.cfg

Re: kickstart in centos 6

Thanks xion, that did indeed give me the boot prompt. However, it now has presented another problem. Unlike 4 and 5, when it tries to configure networking it only does so with dhcp. In the other versions after dhcp would fail it would allow you to manually configure an interface statically for netwo...

kickstart in centos 6

I have read the official documentation at RH site for doing this and it indicates you do it as I always have with the good old linux ks=/path at the boot: prompt when booting from CD. My real world experience from messing with this, googling, etc for 2 hours is with version 6, whether I boot from th...

Re: centos 6.3 TLS negotiation failure against openldap

I had not found that thread, thank you very much. Though following it, it made not change.

centos 6.3 TLS negotiation failure against openldap

We have a mostly 5.x centos environment and we are trying to move to 6.x. The stopping point at this time is setting up 6.3 as an ldap client. I'm at my wits end a bit and don't know where to go from here. I used authconfig to set it up in the same manner as I always have with our 5.x machines. My /...

Re: Odd Samba Issue

Instead of the fake oplocks option, I found this thread in the samba group: http://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2008-July/142215.html Setting posix locking = no and kernel oplocks = no in the global fixes the issue. The thing that was throwing me the most in this was my lack of understanding that o...

Re: Odd Samba Issue

OK, the veto did not work. The fake oplocks did. Now, I basically would be enabling this on every user share. Thoughts/comments?

Re: Odd Samba Issue

Yes, that is exactly our architecture. Now that we have the issue isolated, a google search in the samba archives for samba over nfs brings up lots of discussions and helpful information. I will try your suggestion on the veto and see if it works. The samba developers in what I've found so far tend ...
