serial console on Sun Fire X2250 (Intel XEON)

I installed CentOS on a Sun Fire X2250 (Intel XEON) machine and I'm having a lot trouble getting the serial console to work. My /etc/inittab contains: # serial console con:2345:respawn:/sbin/agetty ttys0 9600 vt100 My inittab is wrong. It works if I manually run /sbin/agetty ttys0 9600 vt100 I fixed...

i386 or i686?

I tried to install CentOS on an old computer and it just reboots during install.

I then looked at Fedora for i386 and the ISO says i686:
ftp://ftp.muug.mb.ca/pub/fedora/linux/releases/7/Live/i386/Fedora-7-Live-i686.iso

It made me wonder if CentOS is really for the i386?

no install, reboot

I can't install centos 4 or 5, the machine just reboots after
I downloaded the 386 binaries so it should work.
I installed trustix.org fine but is an abandoned distro.

Any ideas?

Try defining smart host to forward all external mail to your ISP.

"local host" should be "localhost".
grep for it.
