Re: Resolution setting

Hi, Thanks for your advice. VBox Guest Additions already installed. I can set resolution 2560x1600 without problem. But on reboot the resolution changes back to 800x600. It is quite funny to me. It never happened before. I have other OS VMs running here without such a problem. Also copy-n-paste does...

Re: How to resize root partition removing default /home

Hi TrevorH

I'm prepared to make another test to install CentOS 8 server on another 120G SSD, connected on the same old PC. Please advise whether I can run the same USB boot stick to do the job? What will be the steps to install server?

Thanks

Regards

Re: How to resize root partition removing default /home

Hi jlehtone, You're right, better performing the steps on TEXT mode as root. Now I got it done as follows; # lvremove /dev/cs/home Do you really want to remove active logical volume cs/home? [y/n]: y Logical volume "home" successfully removed # lvs LV VG Attr LSize Pool Origin Data% Meta% Move Log C...

Re: How to resize root partition removing default /home

Yes, starting the text mode

from there login as root and ran;

# startx

starting CentOS 8 GUI mode. But I couldn't start Firefox there to look at the instruction document. Either I have to print the document or put another PC side-by-side.

Re: How to resize root partition removing default /home

It was the same.

After CentOS 8 started a login page popup. User name already there, I only fill in password and then click sign-in. That is all. Now no password can work including root password.

Re: How to resize root partition removing default /home

Tried again. Start CentOS # mkdir /temp /temp already exit # nano /etc/fstab and comment out following line /dev/mapper/cs-home /home xfs defaults # systemctl daemon-reload # umount -fl /home # lvremove /dev/cs/home Logical volume cs/home contains a filesystem in use. Still the same. Reboot CentOS. ...
