Re: OUI incorrectly reports DHCP is used, installation is incomplete

Thanks to all who repiled. This is has been solved, more or less, with assistance from oracle. It seems that CentOS created a default entry in /etc/hosts that included the machine name and domain name in the loopback entry. After editing those out, I installed oracle. All appeared to go well, howeve...

Re: NTPd / clock drift problems (!?) on CentOS 4.4

Hi, I presume that you have considered replacing the battery in the clock. I too have been using various flavors of UNIX and Linux for many years, starting with AT&T System V in 1985. I use a different approach, executing the attached script through cron. Of course I have the luxury of an external c...

Re: OUI incorrectly reports DHCP is used, installation is incomplete

Hi, Permissions are correct on all oracle directories. I tried running as root after executing /usr/local/bin/oraenv. Unfortunately the results are the same. listener log still reports the permissions error. BTW, I finally determined that the OUI is checking /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-lo. ...

Re: bash shell problem with regular expressions

My thanks to those who replied. ls -d [[:upper:]]* is an effective work around. As far as looking elsewhere this is what happens for me: bash shell ... ciscorh Wed> ls bin bldstat2.sql chg Desktop dzip.zip mail NB-BILL2 s.sql ciscorh Wed> ls -d [A-Z]* bin bldstat2.sql chg Desktop dzip.zip mail NB-BI...

OUI incorrectly reports DHCP is used, installation is incomp

Hello Everyone, I have been trying to install Oracle 10g R2 on a Dell 2800 currently running CentOS 4.4 for several days. All preinstallation chores have been completed. The OUI complains that the server is using DHCP to get it's ip address. This is simply not correct. The server has a fixed ip addr...

bash shell problem with regular expressions

Hello Everyone, I am fairly new to CentOS, however I have been using the Bourne shell and variants (bash) since 1985 in various flavors of UNIX and Linux. I have found in CentOS 4.3 and 4.4 that the bash shell is not responding to metacharacters [A-Z]* as anticipated. For example, "ls -d [A-Z]*" sho...
