Re: Unable to ping certain IPs

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. I'm just at a loss as to where it might be. The only firewalls would be on the boxes themselves as there is no other firewall between the boxes and the web.
[root@ns1 ~]# iptables -L Chain INPUT (policy ACCEPT) target prot opt source destination Chain FORWARD (...

Re: Unable to ping certain IPs

They are all connected to the same switch and they all go through the same router for internet access.

I can do an mtr to that IP and it will get all the way to the IP just before the actual host. Of course on the windows machine a tracert gets it all the way to the actual host IP.

Re: Unable to ping certain IPs

Yes, I disabled iptables with the same result.
[root@ns1 ~]# service iptables stop
[root@ns1 ~]# ping 62.149.24.81
PING 62.149.24.81 (62.149.24.81) 56(84) bytes of data.

--- 62.149.24.81 ping statistics ---
3 packets transmitted, 0 received, 100% packet loss, time 2010ms
Re: Unable to ping certain IPs

It's just a dirty way to stop a DoS or any other unwanted traffic such as the 10k logon attempts made a day. I've since resolved those issues another way so I don't use it but I suspected there might be pieces of it lying around that I didn't know where the data files were retained. I didn't see /et...

Unable to ping certain IPs

Ok, this is seriously strange. I have 5 CentOS servers setup and a Windows box. On the windows box I ping perfectly. On the Linux boxes, not a single one of them can route to a small segment of IP space. [root@ns1 ~]# ping 62.149.24.81 PING 62.149.24.81 (62.149.24.81) 56(84) bytes of data. --- 62.14...

Problem with networking

I was actually running into this problem myself. It was CRC errors caused by the network card. The card is actually a good card and was only having a problem with the dag/rpmforge repo. The problem actually came up because CentOS detected the card incorrectly. It had picked it up as a lite-on linksy...

Long login delay on new install

Actually I just got the same thing. However, the quickest, easiest fix for it. Reload the bugger. Atleast that's what I did since it was a fresh load. There are occasions where loads just go badly. Happens with every OS. This is probably the 10th time I've installed on this same box while building (...

Re: Firefox Connects to Centos web site only

Sounds more like a DNS issue than anything.

vi /etc/resolv.conf

Make sure your DNS IP addresses are correct for your ISP.

Re: Maybe a HW-Problem

I would highly doubt you have a hardware problem if it works from the command line. If you can run correctly as root by manually typing the commands, then it's most likely either the script doesn't have proper permissions or doesn't call the procedure correctly. I'm not a master at tape drives under...
