Is it possible to keep a 10g Oracle install when upgrading t

Hi I haven't done the upgrade your specifically asking about, but it should be okay. You may need to relink the Oracle binaries using the relink command. Worst case scenario is you simply install a fresh Oracle software installation and change the configurations to use that. None of your data should...

Re: Gnome, CentOS and VMWare. Configuring for XDMP usage

Hi

Good call. I didn't know it had one built in. Anyway I found the config tool for it and disabled it. My servers now show up in XBrowser and I can log in.

I'll mess around with the ports and renable the firewall.

Many thanks.

Nick.

Gnome, CentOS and VMWare. Configuring for XDMP usage

Hi I have VMWare running on my WindowsXP desktop. Under which are two VMWare images, both running CentOS 5. The images are running Gnome. However xdmcp doesn't appear to be broadcasting or enabled to connect me to those images using XManager (www.netsarang.com) or XMing. I have run gdmsetup and made...

Oracle 8.1.7 and CentOS 4.4

Hi

I don't think 8.1.7 can be used on Red Hat AS3 or Red Hat AS4 (and subsequently the CentOS equiverlents).

Text Console with X11

Hi I want to get my server to boot using a text console, but still run X11. With run level 5 I get the X11 stuff, but it uses X11 to the console. With run level 3 I get the text console, but no X11. I have to start it manually Is there an easy way to acheive what I want. I need a text console for us...

Re: CentOS and Oracle 10g (AS/RAC/PORTAL/REPORTS)

Johan,

Presumably you created the file because the installer threw an error about not being certified/supported etc under CentOS. You can also get around this by specifying -ignoreSysPrereqs on the command line with ./runInstaller.

Booting to a text console

Hi

I have installed CentOS 4 on an IBM eServer x330.

When it boots, it comes up with the graphical interface. How can I change this to the a text/console type environment rather than the GUI. I would like this so that I can use remote management.

Thanks for your help.

Nick.
