Re: Dell Server Update Utility

IT WORKS!! Yes, it looks like it should be the 7th field indeed. After doing yum install compat-libstdc++-33.i386 and changing redhat-release to the string i posted earlier suu stopped complaining and everything got updated!! I'm surprised the check was so simple / rudimentary (and disappointed that...

Re: Dell Server Update Utility

Thanks! I'll give it a try. I have a box running the version from the upstream provider, the contents of that /etc/redhat-release is : Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES release 4 (Nahant Update 7) So there is no digit near the 7th position. I just hope it doesn't look at the kernel version the box is runn...

Dell Server Update Utility

I wanted to update the bios and firmware of a Dell 2850 system. The readme with the Dell Server Update DVD states that RHEL 4 and 5 are supported. I downloaded Dell Server Updates OM_5.5.2_SUU_A00 from the Dell website but when i tried to run suu -u it bombs out, this is the message in the error log...

Upgrading the Server version to the Full version

Why not simply add to the server install whatever you are missing?

For example I do :
yum groupinstall "Development Tools"

Which downloads and installs all the dev stuff

The server cd rocks!! I just wrote a small script to add the stuff I always need on my boxes after installing the server cd.

CentOS 4.3 Server Installation ISO?

Hi community :)

What happened to the CentOS 4.3 Server Installation ISO's? I found them very usefull when you are short of time!

A new server is up and running in no time without the need to make and use installation or kickstart scripts.

Thanks!

vnstat 1.4 compile problem

I am trying to compile vnstat 1.4 (http://humdi.net/vnstat/) on CentOS 4.1 x86_64. I managed to get it working with sendmail with the instructions I found in the forum. Do a search and you'll find the topic.

Re: apcupsd needs ancient gd?

Thanks! The RPM is old, but runs perfectly on CentOS 4. Strange though that the spec file of DAG's version doesn't mention anything special about gd-1.x.
