how do i redo an update?

I did an up2date and fubared my CentOS install. I then reinstalled CentOS over itself and now when I try to do an update it thinks it dos not need one.

Short of a format and reload, how/where do i clear the log so up2date will actually update my os?

Thanks,

Rocco
