Sunsite mirror is out of date

http://www.sunsite.org.uk/sites/msync.centos.org/CentOS/timestamp.txt I discovered this when I asked someone to troubleshoot why our local campus mirror wasn't updated, the update scripts were running correctly but Sunsite is out of date. I think someone either needs to poke a sysadmin to update his...

2 GB swap file showing up as 506 MB

http://www.luci.org/luci-discuss/200204/msg00015.html

/dev/shm isn't the same thing as swap memory. As long as `free -m` shows "Swap: 2048" then you have your 2gb swap partition set up correctly.

Multiple aliases, but only one works

I've got a CentOS 4.1 machine (completely up to date) with a single NIC, which I need to have 2 addresses. I've statically configured its main address in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 which works fine (I can ping, SSH, serve FlexLM licenses, etc), and I've statically configured it...

Firefox problem and I am not to pleased with no replies.
dwflo wrote: All of a sudden Firefox will not run in the user mode. I must be logged in a root to access the web. Just downloded and installed the new updates, but that should not make a dirrerence! Today I got a notice from the up2date applet icon and downloaded an update for Telenet. Think...

Re: HOWTO: Build new modules for an existing kernel

When I followed these instructions, everything worked great but the NTFS kernel module was installed into /lib/modules/2.6.9-5.0.5.ELcustom and not directly into the modules directory of my running kernel. I had to move the fs/ntfs folder and contents into the normal /lib/modules/2.6.9-5.0...

Re: DPT RAID Controller problem

I've now fixed this problem, thanks mostly to https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/long_list.cgi?buglist=149184 Although the hardware support is there (allowing me to install in the first place), and the GRUB patch is already included in CentOS, I hadn't taken the step mentioned in there of booting ...

Re: DPT RAID Controller problem

OK, so it seems I don't have a problem with CentOS at all (probably) since the install recognises the RAID array fine. It appears what I actually have is the issue with GRUB that is addressed here. Should have read the WHOLE of the ...

DPT RAID Controller problem

2 servers, with identical hardware (including DPT PM2654U2 SmartRAID controller, and a bunch of 18.2 SCSI disks). CentOS 3 works fine on one, with RAID arrays set up through the DPT BIOS (detected as /dev/sda and /dev/sdb). I can't get CentOS 4 to work on the other one. With a RAID5 array configured...

Re: How long are CentOS releases supported?

Excellent, thanks. I was hoping this would be the case, as I saw no reason why (after basing the whole OS around RHEL) you couldn't use upstream updates but just thought I'd better check.

How long are CentOS releases supported?

How long are CentOS releases typically supported for things like security fixes? I guess since this is Enterprise level stuff, theres no software upgrades as such, only backports of security fixes (where possible). How long are these made available for releases?
