grub dual boot for windows and linux

Err... where you put your Windows disk ? (IDE 1 or 2, Master or Slave?)

I can see any NTFS or FAT32 partition in both disk. I hope that I am wrong, but seems that you deleted your Windows partition, in Centos installation, what type of partition do you select "Auto" or "Manual" ?

Up2Date problem

In the last month I'm having timeout errors, too. Specially with large RPMs (Firefox, etc.)

Simply, I use a "yum update". When the system is up to date, I use up2date when are a new update, and works fine.

yum update fails

Open your web browser and try to navigate to this URL

http://mirror.centos.org/centos/4/addons/i386/

If you got the same error, is possible that your IP is banned from a unknow reason (or your ISP is blocking the IP address of centos.org).

Re: installing java v5.0 in Centos4

Install Java in RedHat-based distributions is very easy. First, go to www.java.com and download the RPM package. The downloaded file is a .BIN file, make it executable (chmod +x) and run, they file becomes a RPM file. Install as usual. Next step is copy the Java plugin to be used by Firefox ln -s /u...
