Re: restorecon and /.autorelabel have no effect and take no time

Thanks. I think the problem was with /sbin/init. I did spell autorelabel correctly (except in my post) and it was deleted on boot. Probably all I needed to do was run it again. I eventually solved the problem by recovering the backup with selinux disabled and backing up with full extended attribute ...

[SOLVED] restorecon and /.autorelabel have no effect and tak

I restored a whole filesystem from a backup using rdiff-backup and made it bootable from a modified CentOS 5 CD ROM. All works well except all the files have SeLinux context of root:object_r:file_t:s0 I tried rebooting with .autorelable and it seems to take no time and reboots immediately after star...

Grub on DOMU won't see any drives

I have a problem with a VM running Centos 5.3 on a Centos 5.2 hypervisor. Any kernel install makes the system unbootable and I have to copy an old /boot directory to get it to boot again. After some investigation I found that grub was always failing. These are the partitions I have. xvda is the OS v...

Re: Kernel update 2.6.18-92.1.17.el5 just uninstalled drbd drivers

The non-Xen kernels are redundant and I have now deleted them. The machines in question both are Dom0. The result of ls -l `find /lib/modules -name drbd.ko` is as follows... -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 2945057 Aug 7 23:50 /lib/modules/2.6.18-92.1.10.el5xen/extra/drbd82/drbd.ko lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 55 O...
toracat wrote: Hmmm... that is indeed weird. Before the kernel update, did you have these two: kmod-drbd82-8.2.6-2.x86_64.rpm kmod-drbd82-xen-8.2.6-2.x86_64.rpm installed on your system? And you have been using kmod-drbd82, not kmod-drbd, is this correct?
This is what I have now... r...

Kernel update 2.6.18-92.1.17.el5 just uninstalled drbd drive

It seems the latest kernel update causes the drbd drivers to be erased. From yum.log... Nov 05 18:52:50 Installed: kernel-xen.x86_64 2.6.18-92.1.17.el5 Nov 05 18:52:58 Erased: kmod-drbd82-xen Nov 05 18:52:58 Erased: kmod-drbd82 This just caused two production machines to lock up and hard reboot them...

PCI card not showing up in DomU using pciback

I am trying to make a Intel Corporation 82571EB Gigabit Ethernet Controller on PCI address 0000:0c:00.0 visible to a fully virutalised DomU. However it doesn't show up when I start the DomU. If I do an "lspci | grep Ethernet" on the Dom0 machine I get...
03:00.0 Ethernet controller: Broadcom ...

Re: Webmin compromised along with whole machine

As I understand it, the minor version numbers are just versions of CentOS major numbers with sercurity updates etc pre-applied. So if you install CentOS 4.0 and install all the updates you effectively get CentOS 4.4. Each major release has a 5 year lifetime of updates. That's why the "enterprise" ve...

Webmin compromised along with whole machine

I've had a server compromised via webmin using the exploit described here... http://bliki.rimuhosting.com/space/knowledgebase/linux/miscapplications/webmin ...in the section "Changing passwords". Running the following script identifies the files that were successfully read... grep "\.\.%01" /var/web...
