Radeon 7000 (VE)

Hi, I just bought a Radeon 7000 (VE), but 3D acceleration won't work in CentOS 4. It does in CentOS 3. One thing I noticed was that the radeon drm module isn't loaded by default. When I do load it at restart X by init 3 / init 5, nothing changes still Indirect MesaGL rendering. My xorg.conf does con...

Re: ISA soundcard not working

Hi,

A SoundBlaster Live Value ISA? That doesn't sound right? You sure? Maybe a Vibra(16X)?

Anyway I think all ISA support was dropped in CentOS. Not 100% sure though...

Cheap PCI soundcards can be bought for less than 10euro's with a CMI chipset...

2200bg intel support?

Hi,

What driver? e1000?

You might want to try to paste 'lspci -v' in here...

Your not giving us much information to go on...

Re: Primary Domain Controller

Hi, I might want to try to search this forum using 'samba' as topic: Anyway, take a look at this: http://www.centos.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=97&forum=8&post_id=1001#forumpost1001 I wrote the mentioned tutorial, it's reasonably good (still a work in progress though), but it's PDC only...

Re: What version of Red Hat is Centos?

I think you can use AS's specs as CentOS's limits...

But if you want to be sure, just 'cd' to your centos kernel source directory and check the config file...

it's in /usr/src/linux- somewhere

then do 'make menuconfig', and you can browse the configuration...

Re: no encrypted filesystems in Centos 4?

Yeah, without patching your kernel you probably can't use a bigger keysize...

But generally 256bit should be fine..

Re: apt-get, up2date, or yum?

Same thoughts here... apt is faster... much faster... Also I noticed when upgrading kernels, yum somehow makes them default and apt doesn't, note that this could be just coincidence... because of the two packages I used back then... Anyway I'm glad apt is prepackaged now :) Regards, Pascal de Bruijn

Re: Enterprise Kernel/Oracle

I haven't worked with CentOS 2.1 or RHAS 2.1, but I don't think CentOS 3.x has them. Why because RHEL 3 doesn't have them... Many many patches were integrated into the RHEL3 kernel. If I'm not mistaken RHEL3 supports up to 64GB using the hugemem kernel. I don't have any experience working with 1GB+ ...
