Re: xt_time.ko kernel module missing

In the centos 8 kernel .config, I see

Code: Select all

# CONFIG_NETFILTER_XT_MATCH_TIME is not set
It's many years I don't even try to compile a kernel myself..
Too bad...

Re: Is it possible to use JFS on CentOS 8?

Kernels for centos 8 are built with :

Code: Select all

# CONFIG_JFS_FS is not set
So you have (at least) to recompile the kernel with CONFIG_JFS_FS set to m (or y) to use jfs.

Re: Compiling Cmake

Ok I got it to work. I was compiling over nfs on a zfs system. I read a post that had a similar issue. They solved it by compiling it locally. I tried it out and it worked. I have no idea why. The reason if that the system times are not synced. See your first post : gmake: Warning: File 'Makefile' ...

Re: inherit and keep permission destination with rsync

This is probably possible through the use of Posix ACLS : - mount /backup with option acl - define the base for inheritance on /backup : [linux@optiplex ~]$ sudo mount -o remount,acl /home [linux@optiplex ~]$ mkdir backup [linux@optiplex ~]$ setfacl -m 'd:u::rw,d:g::w,d:o::r,d:m::rwx' backup [linux@...

Re: Slow startup of mariadb

there is something quite seriously wrong with your disk subsystem
And the same defect on several computers ?
Is it using a floppy disk?
Would have to be a floppy disk with a gearbox for speeding after the startup is done...

Slow startup of mariadb

Hi all, I have recently upgraded to Centos 8 on several computers (fresh installs). Doing so implied upgrading a mariadb database for switching from mariadb 5.5.64 to 10.3.17. I see this is causing a long bootup : [root@optiplex doc]# systemd-analyze blame 28.293s mariadb.service 9.660s udisks2.serv...
