Re: [SOLVED] No "libzip" for CentOS 8.2.2004 ??

Perhaps you simply not follow properly the Wizard instructions . I wasn't even aware that this "wizard" even existed. :D Maybe you could make it more prominent and more obvious that it should be the very first thing someone is supposed to look at? Because when I type in "php73 centos" into Google, ...

You chose to install Remi's repo. Did you disable php stream from AppStream as part of that?
Yes, command history shows that my coworker the developer (the one who then complained about the problem) did that early on...
Classic case of self-inflicted problem.

Re: [SOLVED] No "libzip" for CentOS 8.2.2004 ??

Poking around in the system I found the solution... :D The repository "remi-modular" has to be enabled too. Because that one has newer "libzip" packages, and because of that it's blocking the ones from "AppStream". (works as intended) # yum update Remi's Modular repository for Enterprise Linux 8 - x...

[SOLVED] No "libzip" for CentOS 8.2.2004 ??

For a project that requires PHP-7.3 I have successfully installed the "Remi" repos and the associated "php73-*" packages. So far so good... Then one of the devs complained that their project needs ZIP support too and thus they need this package: "php73-php-pecl-zip.x86_64" So I tried to install it ....

Re: CentOS 7.8.2003: instant kernel panic at boot with kernel 3.10.0-1127.10.1 but previous kernel 3.10.0-1127.8.2 ok??

OK, using "rpm -e" to completely remove kernel 3.10.0-1127.10.1 and all related packages (libs, devel, tools, etc.) and then going through "yum update" again indeed did the trick.

I'm still a bit confused but I'll take it

Are you sure you meant the 3.10.0-1127.8.2 kernel? [root@srsofaioi23738 ~]# yum reinstall kernel-3.10.0-1127.8.2.el7.x86_64 Loaded plugins: fastestmirror Skipping the running kernel: kernel-3.10.0-1127.8.2.el7.x86_64 Loading mirror speeds from cached hostfile * epel: mirrors.hostico.ro Error: Nothin...

Re: annoying bash shell messages at start-up

You obviously have syntax errors in your "~/.bashrc" or "~/.bash_profile" and also in "/usr/share/bash-completion/bash_completion" as your own post clearly shows.

Fix those errors and the messages will go away.

[SOLVED] CentOS 7.8.2003: instant kernel panic at boot with kernel 3.10.0-1127.10.1 but previous kernel ok??

Hi all, I recently updated all my CentOS 7.x installations to 7.8.2003. With the exception of 1 x VM everything went fine. But on this 1 x VM I get an instant kernel panic at boot time if I try to load the 3.10.0-1127.10.1 kernel image. Screenshot provided below. The previous kernel 3.10.0-1127.8.2 ...

Re: [SOLVED] CentOS 8.1.1911: Can't install "nagios-plugins-all-2.3.3-1.el8.x86_64" due to missing PERL dependencies

Solution, as of June 2020:

Code: Select all

dnf --enablerepo=epel-testing,PowerTools update
=> This will download the updated "nagios-plugins-all" package without the broken dependencies.
