Hello Trevor
After much fiddling around, it seems that the machine needed a nvidia upgrade. The nvidia driver was failing and blocking the mouse and keyboard from loading.

Hello For no apparent reason, keyboard & mouse no longer work on startup when I arrive on the user login page. I wanted to add that there is a very specific BIOS set up for DELL machines that seems to be the source of my problems. I have created a new USB boot key using the same method as above using
CentOS-7-x86_64-DVD-2009.iso
But I get the same errors. Any thoughts most welcome.
