Re: How list installed packages

Thank you. Is it please possible to distinguish which files from these packages are running / used (or are not) by system now ?

I've seen in a C7 kickstart post:

Code: Select all

sed -i "s/X-GNOME-Autostart-enabled=true/X-GNOME-Autostart-enabled=false/" /etc/xdg/autostart/tracker-*
I guess that prevents the installed tracker from starting.
I'm sorry it doesn't work.

I have a couple of old tablets that struggle to run C7. It would be very handy to have one in the workshop just as a web browser. Cany anyone recommend a really lightweight distro that will for preference run firefox?

Devuan with LXDE

Re: Lightweight replacement for CentOS

If you want a truly lightweight and fully functioning OS, it's got to be puppy http://puppylinux.com/download.html , the entire OS is about 100 to 200MBs and runs entirely in RAM. I used it (slacko) exclusively for months a few years ago on an ancient laptop with no hard drive or battery till I got...

Thunar: how change background color ?

IceWM is used.

I've tried viewtopic.php?p=307147#p306958 but it doesn't work.

Ok fixed, nice dark background for thunar :D
As root

Code: Select all

gedit /usr/share/gtk-2.0/gtkrc
I just changed the theme to

Code: Select all

gtk-theme-name = "Adwaita-dark"
Note: thunar 1.6.XX uses gtk2 and 1.8.xx uses gtk3 (CentOS 8 has 1.8.xx)
Many thanks, it works :)

Re: Thunar: how change background color ?

Thank you. I think Xfce Dark Theme can do that.

Re: CentOS 8 freezing/unresponsive.

Hello,

You can read logs with

Code: Select all

# journalctl -r
I would not recommend GNOME becuse it's buggy and "Windows - like".

I can recommend iceWM.

Did you try CentOS 7 ? For example live DVD
