Re: Installer doesn't recognize HDD

I didn't. I didn't have a lot of time to spend messing with it so I just left it alone after the HDDs didn't show up in anaconda. I don't recall previously having to install extra drivers during the installation. How would I go about that, exactly? I don't have access to the server at the moment, bu...

Re: Installer doesn't recognize HDD

I looked up the supported drivers afterward, and RHEL did indeed drop the drivers for the hard drives on that server, so they're just not recognized. I was a bit surprised by that, the server is only 7 years old but I guess that's too old for red hat.

Re: Installer doesn't recognize HDD

Apparently so. I guess I'll be sticking with 7.

Installer doesn't recognize HDD

I'm attempting to install CentOS 8 on an older dell T310 server and the installer doesn't recognize the HDDs. If I run the CentOS 7 installer, the disks show up just fine and I can install it. Why is this happening?

Thanks.

Re: Centos 8 won't boot

installing server with gui do i need to install guest agents, virtualization client, virtualization hypervisor when using hyper v? Guest agents would be good, although I don't know if that will help with an installation on hyper-v, but you can try it. I'm not too familiar with hyper-v, but I would ...

Re: Installation mount points problem

To avoid installing the bootloader, at the bottom of the installation destination window there is a little blue link that says "full disk summary and bootloader." It's easy to miss, i didn't even realize it was there for a long time. Click that link/button and select your hard drive in the pop-up wi...

Re: CentOS 8 VM

After the Virtualbox installation completes, try removing the iso file from the virtual optical drive. It sounds like it's not automatically unmounting it afterward.

Re: Centos 8 won't boot

Looks like I wrote that too soon - when some applications are opened, after only a few seconds it goes back to the login screen. For example I opened Firefox and it sat there fine for a few minutes. Every time I open Files or Settings, within a few seconds the logon prompt comes up (and when I logi...

Re: Centos 8 won’t install

Having similar issues here. I even wiped the CentOS 7 install completely, and it still won't install. Not a great first impression of CentOS 8! https://imgur.com/a/KFvONuF When you deleted the partition with gparted, was it a child partition inside an extended partition? If so, you may need to resi...

Re: Installation mount points problem

I'm assuming you have selected "custom" under the installation destination in the installer. After clicking "done" you will be presented with a manual partitioning screen. Existing operating systems should be listed in the left panel, and clicking the little down arrow next to the installation name ...
