Re: mate-panel killed upon logout

Same thing happens today in release 7.9.2009 that is installed on a Dell Precision 5820 with Intel Xeon W-2125 @ 4.00GHz, 64 GB RAM, nVidia Quadro P2000, kernel 3.10.0-1160.25.1.el7.x86_64. There's an old bug at https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1411129 , about the same age as this thread ...

[solution] Re: goa-daemon spams journal

@pjsr2 Thank you!!! I had seen that page before but had not read it thoroughly. A bit further down there is this suggestion to modify the .service files like so: /usr/share/dbus-1/services/org.gnome.Identity.service [D-BUS Service] Name=org.gnome.Identity Exec=/bin/false and /usr/share/dbus-1/servic...

Re: goa-daemon spams journal

The number of goa-daemon-entries in the systemd journal is now (was rather) a staggering total of 3391766. ~/.config/goa-1.0/accounts.conf is now 1755112 bytes and growing ..... :( :!:

And I don't even use gnome. It's installed but I never use it.

Any idea what to do, anyone?

Re: [Fixed] boot Prolbem

If you have dkms installed there is an option during installation of nvidia driver to utilize that and get an automatic rebuild of the nvidia driver whenever a new kernel gets installed.

[solved] goa-daemon spams journal

For some time the systemd journal has been flooded with entries like this: goa-daemon[9273]: Unsupported account type (null) for ID account_1616788539_36321 (no provider) There is a closed but unresolved bug on Red Hat mentioning the same problem: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1722210 ...

'abrt-cli status' timed out

The last few days I've had an annoying 'abrt-cli status' timed out every time I start a terminal window. Running abrt-cli status -v manually gave me: Private Reports is enabled, use 'abrt-cli -a COMMAND' to get the detected problems. Can't get problem list from abrt-dbus: Timeout was reached Apparen...

Re: dd produces useless boot on installation USB

Judging from the discussion above it seems likely that dd wasn't quite finished although umount didn't complain. Maybe I used eject or safely remove in the graphical menus.

Anyway, I suggest that the dd command in the guidelines is modified to include one of the controls mentioned by TrevorH

Re: dd produces useless boot on installation USB

As said I did follow guidelines but I will try adding sync to be sure.

dd produces useless boot on installation USB

Followed guidelines and copied install image using dd. Boot never got passed grub. Rufus, however, did a good job although discouraged.
