Re: Centos installation with a virtual floppy

I'm not sure what your goal is or this will help you; but in my case, I put the kickstart file on a local http server and then booted the system, edited the cmd line and added

Code: Select all

ks=http://192.168.1.1/kickstart.cfg

Re: Why wouldn't ssh work the first attempt but after several attempts of "No route to host" and "Connection timed out"

I am aware of 2 separate reasons that you could see "no route to host": 1. default gateway not set and there is no route to the destination hosts network from that system 2. the destination host is on the same subnet and the host is unable to receive an ARP response from the host In both cases above...

Re: CentOS 7 Re-Image Using Kickstart, Keeping Existing Partitions and LogVols

I have this problem as well. I am forced to "delete old partitions" and set them up again in Anaconda.

Following...

Just an idea, have you tried using the "reformat" option on the existing partitions?

Re: Directories in /home cloned to /desktop

try this to see if the directory is there, possibly with different permission like owned by 'root' and not your user ls -lahp /home/avargas It should print out the contents of that directory and also show you Desktop/ with the ownership and permission If the Desktop directory is there but with diffe...

Re: How to install an exFAT USB drive

Hey First up - looks like the centos system automatically mounted the usb drive. Without automount you can mount the /dev/sdb1 to some folder, usually in /mnt/ but it doesnt matter. mount /dev/sdb1 /mnt/usb/ Second, with "cp" you need to specify one option to achieve what you're looking for. If you ...

Re: Snapshotting local filesystem with BTRFS filesystem and Timeshift

That's a shame. It kind of goes against the Open Source ethos that Red Hat and other big tech companies are pushing of late. I was not expecting to see any kind of step backwards these days. Thanks for the heads up. So with XFS can I achieve the same goal? Instant 0-byte snapshots and instant data r...

Snapshotting local filesystem with BTRFS filesystem and Timeshift

I've had a play with snapshots on a Debian-based system and like it a lot. I think this is what our SAN is using in the backend for zero-byte clones and snapshots. I'd like to test the same on CentOS 7. I have installed CentOS 7 onto a BTRFS filesystem however I am unable to use the snapshotting as ...

Re: How to dual boot?

Since I was a teenager, the most successful option for me has been to use two separate HDD and install each OS to its own HDD. During OS install, have only the one HDD connected, so that the installer can only install the OS and the boot to that HDD. To switch OS, use the BIOS menu to either tempora...
