Re: [Solved] kmod-wl driver problem - conflicting kernel version? kmod-wl-6.30.223.271-30.el8.x86_64 requires kmod-wl-4.

Hello you can save yourself a lot of aggro if you install the akmod-wl.x86_64 package from rpmfusion-nonfree-updates, as you won't need to rebuild every time there's a kernel update. When a new kernel is available enable akmods systemctl enable akmods update, then reboot, the boot process will take ...

How to switch between 2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz wifi

Hello I had a new router on Friday and decided to check the default settings and noticed my laptop auto connects to 2.4 Ghz where all the smart phones in the house connect to 5 Ghz. I am interested in seeing if 5 Ghz performs any better on my laptop, so spent most of the day trying to switch over. A...

Re: Getting s lot of these... Xorg server crashed

No visible problem, just lots of messages. Are you saying that there is nothing wrong other than the messages ? If so I'd just remove that waste of space abrt, first thing I did when I installed CentOS 7 on my Dell latitude E6420 laptop Other than that, CentOS is not suitable as a desktop os What? ...

Re: two browsers losing audio-video sync

Hello that sounds like a right royal pita, but several things come to mind. I would have thought more cache not less would help. You can set firefox to delete the cache every time you close it under preferences/privacy & security/history/use custom settings for history/clear history when firefox clo...

Re: Lightweight replacement for CentOS

does it still run everything under root account ? It does but a few years ago an experimental user account could be added, but I never tried it. If you search the net there are some guides on running any OS entirely in RAM, I imagine that wouldn't necessarily be lightweight but I bet if you had the...

Re: Thunar: how change background color ?

Hello
I haven't installed CentOS 8 yet but from what I've read the thunar in 8 is version 1.8.xx which uses gtk3, is there a gtkrc in /usr/share/gtk-3.0 if not you could try copying the gtkrc from 2.0 to 3.0 see if that works.
