Re: Can't get ekiga video calling to work

Thanks for your reply Trevor, still no joy though.
I'm wondering if there's a delay on linphone's side, I can log into their website, I just changed the password.
I'll give it a try tomorrow, good old phone for today.

Can't get ekiga video calling to work

Hello like most of the world I'm not able to visit anyone at the moment so thought I'd set up ekiga for some video chat. I have set up a sip account with linphone.org, entered the details into ekiga and it just says "processing" for ever. Hang on just tried again now saying "could not register (forb...

Re: Miminal size CentOS with web browser

Hello not sure what the purpose is here but if you must have a gui that is tiny I'd install a window manager, fluxbox (my personal fave) and openbox are both available. Fluxbox installed is 3.3 Mb, I don't use openbox but I'd guess it's much the same size. They will also pull in some dependencies bu...

Re: CPU frequency governor?

Hello just a thought, are you sure the system is idle, there's no clamav or rkhunter type program or inefficient graphics driver running in the background. Is there a setting in your BIOS that enables freq scaling. Are you running gnome wayland, have you tried gnome xorg or a different desktop/windo...

Re: Wifi Issues

Hello
it's probably the wireless driver/module that's missing or not enabled.
Check the output of

Code: Select all

lspci
and look for Network controller, or as root

Code: Select all

lshw | grep Wireless
should tell you what wireless chip you have, post the output and someone on here will know which module you need.

Re: terminal host name changed

Thanks again for all the replies, some interesting learning going on at this end. it could be that puppy communicates with the server and the name is stored. When you start CentOS, the DHCP server may think it's the same PC (same MAC address?) and it gives out that name. I think this may be the answ...

Re: terminal host name changed

Well it's done it again, I did a shutdown of puppy, removed usb stick and restarted CentOS after a few seconds. One thing I did remember is that I have put the pupsave (persistence file) in the ntfs windows partition (on the HD), I can't see how this could be relevant though. The output of hostnamec...

Re: terminal host name changed

Thanks for the replies. I've fixed the host name but am still confused as to how a live os that runs entirely in ram has made a change to the installed os, especially as none of the HD partitions was ever mounted. I thought DHCP just assigns an ip address. The only thing I can think of is that I did...

terminal host name changed

Hello I installed puppy linux on a memory stick earlier (using dd) booted from it, set it up, rebooted to make sure settings saved, rebooted back into CentOS and now my terminal host name is puppypc31420, very confused. [user1@puppypc31420 ~]$ su - Password: Last login: Tue Mar 17 22:41:24 GMT 2020 ...

Re: Audio output settings

Hello
I suppose the easiest way would be to install pavucontrol, there's a version in the nux repo or pavucontrol-qt in epel and choose the audio with that.
