Re: After updating to kernel 4.18.0-147.3.1.el8_1.x86_64 amdgpu driver does not woks

I am unable to boot from the latest kernel. It might have to do with amdgpu-pro, since I neglected to update that before the kernel... I used the script in /usr/bin to remove amdgpu-pro, but it was unable to remove amdgpu-dkms. Here's what happens when I try to remove that package: Running scriptlet...

Re: Trying to install ffmpeg...

Thanks, that takes care of part of the problem, and now I see there's more dependencies not available: $ sudo dnf install ffmpeg Repository 'amdgpu-pro-local' is missing name in configuration, using id. Trying to install ffmpeg...

I've enabled rpmfusion and epel, but when I try to install ffmpeg, this happens: $ sudo dnf install ffmpeg [sudo] password for chris: Repository 'amdgpu-pro-local' is missing name in configuration, using id. Last metadata expiration check: 21:30:30 ago on Tue 10 Dec 2019 09:23:30 PM EST. Error: Prob...

Re: GRUB2 rescue in CentOS 8... How?

If it were easier to contribute to the wiki, I could fix it myself. As much as we would like to have an open Wiki where everyone can write without jumping through hoops, we're not able to do so. Say thanks to all the spammers out there who "contribute" their stuff everywhere on the web. [...] but we...

Re: GRUB2 rescue in CentOS 8... How?

How is it up to date, though, when this happens? # grub-install /dev/sdb bash: grub-install: command not found The documentation should say grub 2 -install, shouldn't it? But, # grub2-install /dev/sdb /grub2-install: error: /usr/lib/grub/x86_64-efi/modinfo.sh doesn't exist. Please specify --target o...

GRUB2 rescue in CentOS 8... How?

There doesn't seem to be any up-to-date documentation for rescuing a CentOS install, or any that work for me, anyway. Has anyone tried this recently and gotten it to work? The latest documentation hasn't been updated since CentOS 6, apparently. I just run into issues like: /grub2-install: error: /us...

Re: Centos 8 won’t install

I found a workaround/solution for my issue. By ensuring the USB drive was booted via legacy mode, and not UEFI, I was able to get the installer to work.

Re: Centos 8 won’t install

When you deleted the partition with gparted, was it a child partition inside an extended partition? If so, you may need to resize the extended partition first, although that's just a guess. You could also try selecting "custom" under storage configuration and try adding partitions manually. I think...

Re: Centos 8 won’t install

This isn't really the right thread for that, since you actually got through the install process.

Re: Centos 8 won’t install

Having similar issues here. I even wiped the CentOS 7 install completely, and it still won't install. Not a great first impression of CentOS 8!
