Didn't find a CentOS 6 link, but I double checked in a clean install, there is an option to set a boot loader password during install.

Yes, I'm sure its not BIOS.
I am at the flash screen and the GRUB version etc at the top.
In the classic OS box, there is the CentOS listed with option to boot or enter p to access features.

Thanks for your reply, I have double checked but the centos installation on another PC also appears to be the same. I had done the installation and I'm sure nothing related to GRUB was changed. With a clean install, if you interrupt the GRUB boot, you'll notice that you still don't get the a or e op...
